It's been a great week of practice and racing!!!    Tomorrows practice will not be any different. Meet at menards on 2nd st. at 5:15. We will be travelling by car about 15-20 minutes to the end of hat six road. There are some great hills to climb on our bikes out there. Coach Keith doesn't get off of work until 5 anyways and Tristan mentioned he was busy until 5 also. If you anticipate running a little late email the coaches and we will make sure to wait.

Keep riding hard ladies and gentleman! :)

What a fantastic weekend we had on Casper Mountain!  The participation of racers from across Wyoming was nill, but the future of youth mountain biking in Casper is pretty awesome.  With close to 20 registered racers on the Casper team, the racing that took place this weekend was full of fun.  I kid you not, every single race was exciting to watch.  There were so many moves made during the races and a few sprint finishes even.  Below are a few photo's from the Short Track Cross Country (STXC) race on Saturday night.  Every youth racer had a blast and the adults who raced had a ton of fun competing against the kids too.  The coaches even got out to stretch their legs for the races too.  We had  so much fun!  It is a pleasure to work with such respectful and talented youth.  We are excited to see where the rest of the season takes us.  Remember that practices will continue to be on Tuesday and Thursday and please check your email and/or the blog to know what is happening for the next practice. As you already know, the next practice will be a MAINTENANCE ONLY class and will be held at MOUNTAIN SPORTS on Center St in Casper.  Bring your bike!!!!!  5:30pm and we'll see you there.

Enjoy the pics!

Last nights practice was awesome!  Great turnout, good workout, and no serious injuries.  Which reminds me, each and every one of you guys and gals should look over their bike tonight.  Give it a full cleaning, lube the chain and check to make sure that all bolts, the wheels, and even your pedals are on tight.  We don't want anything falling apart on the trail out there.

I know the Casper kids are pumped to race this weekend.  We hope that everyone reading this from out of town considers coming to race this weekend.  Biking can get expensive and we don't want the cost to race to deter you from joining us.  That is why we would love your help with volunteering.  All you have to do is help out for at least an hour during the day and we will waive the 10 dollar fee to race.

In case you don't know where the race is, check out this link.

This link is a map of the nordic ski trails.  All I did was google the Casper Nordic Center.  The parking lot at the Trail Center is where you need to go.  From there just head to the lodge and you'll figure it out.

If you have questions, email us at casperhsmtb@gmail.com and we'll get back to you soon.  Starting tomorrow morning though, we will all be on the mountain for the weekend, so get a hold of us by tonight.
See you up there on the mountain!

The weekend of Awesome!!

Here is the skinny on what you are going to be doing this weekend.
Volunteers: We are pretty well covered for Saturday except for timing during the Expert Short Track race (because we will be racing).  So just ask if you can help when that time comes.  For Sunday, show up before the first race at 9am to the registration table in the Lodge and we'll point ya in the right direction.  All volunteers will get to race for free.
Racers: Registration on both days will be in or near the lodge.  So just look for the table with the sign on it.  Only registered people can race.  Get there early to register and get prepared for your race.  Anyone under 18 needs a parent to sign the Waiver to Race.
Spectators:  I would print out one of these maps, as there will only be a few at the race to look at.  Then you'll know where to go to spectate.  The race start and nearby is a great spot though.  The Short Track Race (STXC) will be a hoot to spectate.
Everyone:  If you are from out of town, mention that you are hear for the race and ask for the High School Mountain Bike Race Deal when you check into the Parkway Plaza hotel and you'll get a great discount on a room.  Something under 70 bucks a night for the 10th - 12th of August!  Otherwise, there is a bunch of camping available on Casper Mountain, so maybe we'll see you up there.

Above: The 6 mile loop for the JV and Varsity racers.  One loop for JV boys/girls and Two loops for the Varsity boys.  Varsity girls will race one 6 mile loop and then one more short loop (See map below) for a total of 9 miles.

Above:  This 3.2 mile loop will be for the Beginner boys/girls and the Varsity girls will do this loop once along with a long loop.  This trail is mostly non-technical, but will include some single-track that is super fun.

Hey Guys and Gals,

That was a good tough workout tonight ehh? We had some new faces to and that was great!

So.....without further ado. Next practice will be at Mike Sedar park at 5:30PM  Bring water, bike, helmet, and be ready to have some fun. We will be in the grass a lot and work on some skills, then maybe if there is enough time we can get in a lap and really apply what we have learned.

Keep an eye on the blog for a full schedule of this weekends events in the next couple of days. If any parents or anybody else would like to volunteer please email us your availability. We have a list of some duties that we can assign you to and look forward to a fun fun weekend.

thanks,

Only 1 week left to the first ever Wyoming High School Mountain bike Series!!!!  I hope everyone is stoked as we are going to have a great time. CAMBYR's first official practice is in the books, and boy do we like working with these Casper youth!!! What a good natured, talented, well behaved group of individuals. Parents that's your fault! It makes working with them a pleasure. We also have appreciated all of the parent support on the practices and group rides. It should make this weekend a fantastic event and we look forward to showcasing the local trails to those who are traveling from around the state to race.

So..... Here is your next practice:

Lets meet  at Wind City Physical Therapy (1347 S. Wisconsin Ave.) this Tues. @ 5:30 PM. Head Coach Leif will work his magic and run us through some testing to determine our weakness's and strengths and give us a good baseline to compare to when the season is over. Bring your running shoes and running gear. No need for a bike and helmet unless you have not been fitted  by one of us coaches. In that case, bring your bike you intend to race and your helmet and we will look things over.

Call or Email the coaches with any questions and please spread the word!
