Round 1 of the WY HS MTB Series

The course is set and we think you will all love it.  Maps will be available soon.  For now, enjoy a preview of a few of the trails.

On August 12th, there will be a couple races for kids under 12 and there will also be a citizens race after all the kids are done for the day.  We will have day-of-registration only for the citizens.  The race will cost 10 dollars per citizen unless you volunteer to help out during the day (then you can race for free).  We will have more details on duties later, but plan on helping out for a fun day on the mountain.

NOTICE!!!  A calendar is being made and will be available to view anytime here on the blog.  For now, just know that there is an event every Thursday in July.  These pre-season events are very important.  At the bike fit and bike maintenance class that was held on Thursday, 100% of the bikes needed adjustments!!!  Thats a pretty serious problem.  We need to be fit to our bikes and it is important for many reasons.  You won't want to miss the rest of the pre-season practices.

Thursday's pre-season bike tune

From now until the end of October, reserve  your Thursdays for CAMBYR!!  Starting this Thursday, the 28th, we will be doing some fun stuff on our bikes.  This Thursday at 6:30pm will be our Summer tune-up. Bring your bikes, tools, lubes, rags and a bike stand if you have one.  We will be meeting at the the park in Bar Nunn.  Just drive north on Salt Creek hwy and turn left on Antelope Rd (Antelope is the main road into Bar Nunn and you can see the sign for Bar Nunn on the side of the road).  Just two block in is the park on your right.  We will have some snacks, but probably not enough for you to get full on.  So you may want to eat a healthy supper before hand.  

Don't underestimate the power of dishsoap and water!!!  Bring anything you think might be useful for a clean and tune up.   We will also be checking and inspecting proper fit on all bikes.  So wear your normal cycling footwear and bring your helmet in case you decide you would like to ride a little.

Team and individual registration is not yet open for the league, but will be soon.  The calendar for the 2012 season is set and we will have that available for you at this meeting.  Expect the fun to last an hour or more.

Way to go all of you riders out there getting some great racing experience this summer at the local race series!!  Your experiences will not only benefit you in the upcoming season, but also your team mates who might have questions about racing.   Great Job!!  Below are a few pictures of some local youth in action.

Jersey Order

Hello racers,

The deadline for ordering jerseys is June 1st.  Please don't wait any longer.  Primal wear makes the best jerseys in world, us coaches think, and having a jersey is a requirement to be a part of the Casper Area Mountain Bike Youth Racers.  A lot of kids have already tried on the sample jerseys to get their sizing down.  You could ask around to see what they ordered and then make your own, or you could meet me on Thursday outside of Ragged Edge Sports from 5:45 - 6:55pm to give the jerseys one last fit check.

Like I said, a team jersey is required if you want to race on the team.  They are about 42 dollars for the short sleeve jersey.  We will be racing into the months August, Sept and October, so cool weather is pretty much a guarantee.  Long sleeve jerseys are available, but there is a minimum order of 15.

Good racing by the way on Monday kids!!  The coaches are excited to see so many youth racing the Fat Fish series.  Racing in that series will give you great experience for the High School series when that rolls around in August.

We were able to snap a few photos from the Trail Festival race last weekend.  Here are a couple of the CAMBYR racers in action.  Thanks for all your help folks!!  See you at the Fat Fish Racing races and please feel free to ask Leif, Keith, Marty or Adam any questions about the high school team and racing tips too.  Leif has nearly 20 years of racing experience, but any one of us might have some advise that works good for you.  Happy riding!

Hello parents, kids and friends of CAMBYR.  Below is a link to the volunteer sign up sheet.  Check it out and type your name in where you would like to volunteer.  The Fat Fish and Striders need your help, so please consider it after or before your race.  If you can't access it, just email us at casperhsmtb@gmail.com and let us know when you can help.  Above is a picture I took on Thursday when we pre-rode the race course.  "This course is FUN", said a few of the riders.  We will have 4 different games happening throughout the day that will be for kids and adults.  Prizes will be given away after the start of the Expert category, and the awards for every category are one of a kind!

Can't wait to see you Thursday at the movie night!  That movie is definitely going to get us pumped up to race.

One thing is for certain.....   the Casper Area Mountain Bike Youth Racers will be the fastest looking team out on the trails this year!!   The CAMBYR jerseys are only available for the youth racers and parents.  Jerseys are required for all the kids that will be a part of the league.  We are not going to make a short's requirement besides that they must be black.  As long as your shorts are black, then you can choose baggy or lycra shorts.  There will be jerseys for you to try on (to check out sizing) at the May 10th movie night at the Iris as well as the May 12th Trail Festival.  Our jersey order MUST BE SENT IN NO LATER THAN JUNE 1ST.  Please help us spread the word so that nobody gets left out.
